Course Description:

The FASB has a proposal outstanding to expand and clarify the last-of-layer strategy that entities use to hedge portfolios of earning assets. For Credit Unions, the NCUA has a proposal outstanding to streamline your hedging approval process making this a great time to get into hedging. In this webinar, Ruth Hardie discusses the benefits and challenges of last-of-layer hedging. Since the very first credit union started hedging, Hedge Trackers has helped credit unions develop and implement a wide variety of interest rate hedging strategies to stabilize margin, reduce interest rate risk and improve the safety and soundness of the institution. Through this discussion, Ruth will share her experiences working with last-of-layer designations and look at the proposed changes for multiple layer hedging.
