IR Risk Management: A Deeper Dive into Cash Flow Accounting for Late Designations

This workshop is hands-on, case driven, and puts the ASC 815 Key Concepts to work. Participants will work on case studies designed to develop the ability to understand and prepare hedge accounting journal entries under cash flow hedge accounting treatment when you have a late designation.  While everyone hopes to achieve hedge accounting from the beginning, many practioners find themselves in a late designation situation due to unexpected changes in the hedged item.  This course will prepare you to understand the implications of a mid-term designation.

Course Description:

This workshop covers:

• Off-market swap valuation
• Off-market regression testing
• Off-market effectiveness measurement
• Journal entry preparation practice cases and discussion of results

Learning Objectives:

After the class, participants will have an understanding of how to account for swaps that have been designated after inception.
