FX: Cash Flow Hedge Accounting 101

This workshop is designed as an introduction to accounting for foreign currency derivatives under ASC 815: Derivatives and Hedging. The course covers the basic principles of hedge accounting such as timing and P&L geography benefits, the measurement of ineffectiveness, fair valuing a derivative and recording basic journal entries. Participants will work on case studies designed to reinforce and develop the ability to understand and prepare hedge accounting journal entries under cash flow hedge accounting treatment.

Participants will be prepared to:
- An overview the key concepts of ASC 815
- Effectiveness testing basics
- Effectiveness measurement: including and excluding
- Practical group study cases that incorporate differing cash flow hedge accounting scenarios
- Journal entry preparation practice cases and discussion of results
After the class, participants will have an understanding of cash flow hedge accounting and be ready for the next class covering some of the more advanced concepts.
