This workshop covers:
- Three hedge accounting cases are examined under similar but differing conditions. The results are compared and contrasted against one another and against the expected result.
- We discuss the impact of local currency vs. USD functional hedging and the surprising results vs. expectations.
- The complexities and limitations of hedge accounting with local currency foreign subsidiaries are addressed including the limitations of hedging intercompany transactions.
- We lastly allow time for participants to ask general questions and participate in hedge accounting discussions with classmates based on the participants’ real-life experiences.
After the class, participants will be able to identify the shortcomings of local functional currency hedging programs and how to communicate the results vs. expectations to management. Case studies will provide a framework for participants to draw upon when contemplating new hedging strategies.
